Meta Memory examines how digital technologies reshape the formation, storage, and circulation of memory. Drawing from large personal image archives, the work compresses multiple moments into layered compositions that obscure original contexts while generating new visual experiences. Photography, collage, and digital manipulation function as tools of both preservation and transformation, producing what can be understood as encoded or “encrypted” memories.
The series considers how images move through systems of recording, sharing, and reinterpretation, and how these processes blur distinctions between lived experience and mediated representation. Influenced in part by the structure and restraint of Australian Aboriginal Dreamings, the work navigates questions of visibility, privacy, and authorship, revealing only partial narratives while maintaining connections to broader human experience. A large-scale installation of the blue works is permanently installed at Seattle University as a 14 x 5 foot wall composition in the Physics building, while a red series of a similar size was presented as part of the Shunpike Storefronts window display series.
Translucent acrylic forms and vinyl symbols operate as a conceptual overlay, suggesting technological systems that organize and circulate memory. The result is a hybrid visual language in which personal archives, digital processes, and speculative systems converge.
